The week of Thanksgiving Edmond Belle Voce director, Elizabeth Lopez, and former Edmond Music Experience Director and current COHC parent, Kate Geesaman, will be traveling to the Beqaa Valley, just east of Beirut, Lebanon. They will be partnering with Tying Vines Humanitarian Projects to provide fine arts classes to Syrian Refugees living in camps. Some of these children have lived their entire lives in these make-shift camps. Others have escaped their war-torn country on foot, taking refuge in this valley.
One of their goals is to use music to put smiles on faces of these children to help them see beyond these unimaginable conditions. This article tells a little about the children and families they will be working with.
How can you help? In real ways!
- You can shop and order directly at this Amazon Link and provide music instruments to the children. If your child is or has been in Music Experience, you know movement and instruments are a big part of that experience. The instruments will be used the week they are there and given to the community center/school near the camps.
- You can give directly at Give Send Go. Funds will be used to purchase music instruments, art supplies, medical supplies and for community outreach to children and families in the camps.
This is a great opportunity for COHC to partner in sharing music and the good news of Jesus with others across the ocean. Help however you feel led and be sure to pray as these ladies go over to bring joy to these little children’s faces and hearts. Thank you!
