Ambassadors is an auditioned ensemble of Illuminati and Bella Voce students who perform at various locations throughout the community in addition to the regular COHC schedule. For more information about this ensemble and the audition process, please ask your Illuminati or Bella Voce director.
Carnegie Hall Honors Performance
COHC has had the privilege of having students selected to participate in the Carnegie Hall Honors Performances for several years in a row. Interested in auditioning? Speak with your Bella Voce or Illuminati director. Or, for more information refer to their website.
Circle the State with Song
Circle the State with Song is an auditioned regional honor choir of 4th through 8th grade students. Auditions take place in September. The event then takes place in January or February of the following year. This is the first step for a student interested in auditioning in the Oklahoma All-State Children’s Chorus.
The Heartland Music Festival is a national choral contest that is in our own backyard. Choirs from all over Oklahoma and surrounding states participate in this event either in Branson or OKC. By participating in the Frontier City sponsored location, we see how we compare as a choir with other similar choirs without leaving our own city. Bella Voce and Illuminati choirs participate in the Heartland Festival during a Saturday in April. The exact schedule for the day is usually shared a couple weeks in advance as the Heartland Festival releases their schedule of events.
Oklahoma All-State Children’s Chorus
The All-State Children’s Choir is an opportunity for exceptional music students to work with guest choral clinicians from around the world on challenging music with other students from across the state. Students interested in participating must participate in Circle the State with Song, submit a recorded audition, be selected to participate, and be available to attend the chorus event at the OKMEA Event in January in Tulsa.
Oklahoma Festival of the Arts
The Festival of the Arts is a community celebration of the visual, performing and culinary arts, bringing a variety of talented artists together in downtown OKC’s Bicentennial Park. Performance groups from all over the region audition for an opportunity to perform at this highly attended event in downtown Oklahoma City in April. Once our group is selected we will share the exact date and time our Principio and Music Experience students will be signing.
Solo and Ensemble Festival
The Solo and Ensemble Festival is an event organized by Central Oklahoma Homeschool Choirs that is open to all Oklahoma students ages 8 to 18. The goal of the Oklahoma Homeschool Solo and Ensemble Contest is to provide an opportunity for students of any educational background to receive personal feedback via a highly-qualified solo and ensemble adjudicator.
This event puts the COHC on the “local” stage and allows both the homeschool sector and non-homeschool sector to recognize the level of musical excellence within our choral organization. We can impact then greater OKC Metro by how parent volunteers, Choral directors, and our students organize and carry-out successful Solo & Ensemble Contests. This event usually takes place in March or April; the exact schedule for the day is usually shared one to two weeks in advance once event registration closes.
